ConversationBuilder recommended by SpecialEducationAdvisor.com

This is a nice website with a lot of great resources for Special Education.  They recently wrote a favorable review of our ConversationBuilder social modeling app.  The author writes:

Conversation Builder by Mobile Education Tools is the best pragmatic speech application I have used with my 10 year old son with a pragmatic language disorder.

For children, like my son, who struggle with pragmatic speech and have both speech and recreation therapy in school this is an amazing app. I highly recommend it for any elementary age child struggling with pragmatics and social language.

Review of Rainbow Sentences by iAutism

This is a nice review of our Rainbow Sentences speech and language app by iAutism.   The purpose of iAutism is to work in this direction by collecting information related to the use of visual and tactile technology for people with ASD and other special needs.  They only post reviews for apps that they think are beneficial to children with special needs.  About Rainbow Sentences, the author writes:

With 168 sentences and images, three difficulty levels (and two types of sentences in each one) and a highly configurable hints system, the truth is that Rainbow Sentences gives for many hours of practice.  It includes a basic system of reinforcements and statistical records, so it is a quite complete tool.

Who can use Rainbow Sentences? As with other apps of Mobile Education Store, the user may well be a student with special needs but a fairly high level of language – expressive, receptive and written, as well as a neurotypical student who wants a tool with which to practice building sentences.  And in the case of Rainbow Sentences, a valid user can also be a non-native English speaker who wants to practice building sentences, expand vocabulary and practice pronunciation.

The author does point out the benefits of Rainbow Sentences for ESL students as well.  To find out more about Rainbow Sentences and purchase it on iTunes, tap on the icon below!

Rainbow Sentences review by Teachers With Apps

Teachers with Apps are two dedicated teachers who spend their days and nights finding and testing the best educational apps on iTunes.  They recently reviewed Mobile Education Store’s newest language and literacy app, Rainbow Sentences.  They write:

We love this app. Having the capability to tweak the settings, to get each child working on what they need reinforcement with, is huge! Once the sentence is all put together, we concentrate on making sure the student understands what the words mean. Comprehension is the overall purpose of reading, and understanding what you read is essential for learning.

Rainbow Sentences is wonderful for reinforcing sentence structure and as already mentioned contains a great number of levels. Both the words and lines are color coded, using single words or phrases, which is a great visual aid to get students understanding how to build a simple sentence.

Their words echo what we are hearing from others.  Teachers love it because it allows them a unique and effective way to teacher the who, what, where and why’s of sentence structure for a wide variety of students.   Students love it because it has a lot of humor and an awards system that is fun and engaging.

SentenceBuilder review by iHeartThisApp

This is a nice review of our SentenceBuilder speech app.  It goes into a lot of  detailed about the speech therapy benefits of SentenceBuilder.  It also mentions the teen version of SentenceBuilder, which is the first time anybody has written about that version of the app.  The author writes:

Sentence Builder is in a group of apps often called Game Changers. As a mom of a seven-year-old child with special needs, I’m constantly looking for tools that allow my daughter to manage her challenges so that she can develop age-typical skills.

We are also using Sentence Builder Teen for our highly-creative 12-year-old, who has ideas far bigger than her grammar mechanics. As with many teens, the majority of her written communication is accomplished through texting. We are using Sentence Builder to help her develop and practice simple sentence patterns that she can use on essay questions and more formal writing assignments. Sentence Builder Teen provides an easy way for her to drill through the simple sentence patterns, hopefully making them more natural and allowing her to express her ideas more clearly.

It’s great to hear about a parent who is using SentenceBuilder to not only improve the language of her special needs child, but also using it to help her mainstream teenaged daughter improve her language.  To find out more about SentenceBuilder and purchase it on iTunes, tap on the icons below!

Review of ConversationBuilder social modeling app

Here is a review of our ConversationBuilder social modeling app by SMATOOS, an online news site.  They specialize in articles about the convergence of education and technology.  They give a very favorable review for ConversationBuilder here.  The author writes:

This app will greatly improve your children’s ability to read the flow of conversations in a variety of situations. What’s more, ConversationBuilder™ supports a group dialogue that makes it flexible for classroom use. The variety of options makes this app open for use at home, school, therapies, hospitals, you name it!

Overall, ConversationBuilder™ is an extremely helpful tool for elementary and preschool students, especially those who have trouble having an organized conversation. I have checked out multiple conversation-related apps, and this one has by far the most effective system and covers a wide variety of situations. What’s more, it provides not only the appropriate responses to certain questions but also some bad examples. This helps kids to think again before they speak, which I believe is a great habit to get into.

This review differs from many as the author mentions that they have tried other conversation related apps, and find ours to be the best on the market.  We of course agree!!  To find out more about ConversationBuilder and purchase it on iTunes, tap the icon below!

Review of Language Builder speech app

This is a really nice reveiw of LanguageBuilder by  Emma Apple of Muslim Friendly Apps.  She goes into detail about how the apps works and her own experience using it with her son.  She writes:

When we first started using the app my son struggled to make appropriate sentences (as expected), he asked questions or spoke to the children in the picture rather than describing what was going on. After several images making use of the hints and with my encouragement, he was able to make appropriate sentences about a few of the pictures. We continue to work with him using this app and I’m confident this will be a valuable learning tool for him the more we use it.

We are always so glad to hear about our apps being used with success to help a child.  To find out more about LanguageBuilder and purchase it on iTunes, tap the icon below!

Review of LanguageBuilder speech app by SpeechTechie

Sean Sweeney is a licenced SLP and prolithic blogger.  He is well know within speech and language circles as a real authority on the  speech and language  apps on the iTunes store.  He recently posted a favorable review of Mobile Education Store’s LanguageBuilder app.  He writes:

In both cases, it was an enjoyable and engaging experience for the child, and gave me key information about their sentence formulation abilities, along with transcribable (or demonstrable for parents) audio samples in response to the pictures.  Language Builder has different levels of “hints” that prompt various language structures, and could of course be used for all those kids that complete Formulated Sentences and don’t do so well with it. I actually have also been using it in conjunction with the excellent Conversations with Conjunctions program (Catherine Harkins May, Pro-Ed), which involves the use of ASL signs for conjunctions in order to provide a visual and kinesthetic cue. Overall, it’s a great go-to app to address the difficult-to-assess (and treat) area of complex sentence development!

Review of ConversationBuilder social skills app

This is one of the more comprehensive reviews I have seen of ConversationBuilder.  It was done by Emma Apple of Muslim Friendly Apps.  She writes:

I can’t say for sure whether Conversation Builder was responsible, but my 6 year old initiated and carried on her very first socially appropriate conversation EVER in the Dr’s office recently. I believe Conversation Builder had a part to play in that huge step for her and I would strongly recommend it to anyone at all who has an older child who needs help in this area. I can’t speak highly enough of it.

It is an incredible feeling to hear this kind of stuff.  Hearing stories like this one, where ConversationBuilder helped improve the social skills of a child so quickly,  really brings into focus why I create these apps in the first place.

StoryBuilder review

Therapy411 is a group of speech language pathologists to review apps from a therapy perspective.  This is a short but sweet review of StoryBuilder.  The author, Cassie Soofi, is a licensed SLP.  She writes:

Therapy Use:  This is a great app that promotes increasing expressive language, responding to WH questions, inferencing and paragraph writing. It includes a voice recording and playback feature which is wonderful when working with articulation, fluency or general speech intelligibility.

It’s nice to get feedback from professionals who are having success using my apps in their practice.  Tap on the icon below to go to iTunes to learn more and purchase StoryBuilder.
