Review of TenseBuilder Speech Therapy App

Here is another review of our TenseBuilder speech therapy app by a mom with an autistic child.  It is really gratifying to have people from so many walks of life getting benefit from my apps.

TenseBuilder holds a special place for me because it has helped my daughter so dramatically.  She really struggles with Tense, and gets tense wrong nearly 100% of the time.  Since using TenseBuilder, her use of proper tense in her conversational speech and improved dramatically.  It’s a lot of fun watching her play, no only to watch her gain understanding, but she has so much fun watching all the funny animations.

TenseBuilder employs movie quality animations to teach tense.  We take the kids through an entire timeline, which gives the students a much deeper understanding of Tense markers and why they are important.  Because we are using video, we are able to tackle the more difficult verbs (do, go, come), that don’t have as concrete an action associated with them as other verbs (run, jump, walk).  These verbs can be difficult for many children to fully comprehend, but they become clear with the animations.  Combine that with a lot of humor in the animations themselves, and you have an app that kids want to continue playing and teaches tense in a way not possible with flash cards or worksheets.

TenseBuilder is the newest member of Mobile Education Store’s “Builder Series” of educational speech therapy apps.  Mobile Education Store has won over 20 app awards and was named App developer of the year by two popular autism app review sites.
