This is a very nice review of our Speech Journal language app. Of all my apps, speech journal has never found its footing. Everyone who uses it loves it, but not many people have found out about it. Its flexibility is what makes it special. You can create almost any speech therapy activity you can think of with it. Sequencing, schedules, expressive language, grammar, just about anything. You can use photo’s you’ve downloaded to the app or just take photos on the fly while you create your activity.
The other subtle difference between Speech Journal and many of my other apps is that it can be used for students of any age. Since you can import your own images and text, you can create content that is age appropriate for anybody. This particular author describes using speech journal with an adult population. They created a story about going to a cell phone store. They took pictures of entering the store, looking at the various phones and cell phone plans. Then they went back and created the story. The author is using Speech Journal to create task training from everything from self directed IEP meetings, mock interviews, cooking foods and going to football games. The lessons can be simple and just a few steps or very complicated.
It’s very cool to hear about my apps being used in ways I never imagined. When I created Speech Journal, I only had speech games for elementary kids in mind, and here it is being used to teach adults on the spectrum how to cook spaghetti! Stories like this is why I come to work every morning. Check out the review here.

This is a very comprehensive review of our Rainbow Sentences grammar app by A4CWSN.com. They describe in a lot of detail how the app works. In addition, they have a video review of the app so you can see it in action. The author writes:
Rainbow Sentences is the newest addition to a suite of educational apps from Mobile Education Store. I have quite a few educational apps from Mobile Education Store, for good reason- first, they all captivate my students’ attention. Secondly, they are created with the belief that students need different levels of instruction instead of a “one size fits all” approach. Lastly, they allow me to track my students’ performance.
Rainbow Sentences is no exception, and fills a niche in an underrepresented area of apps- Sentence Structure. Rainbow Sentences teaches sentence structure by color coding sentences so their parts can better make sense. This is an essential skill for comprehension. We need to know the who, what, where, and why/how of a sentence to be able to take away meaning from that sentence. Rainbow Sentences has managed to make this task fun as well, using illustrations that are charming and quite amusing- shoes that sleep, giraffes with shopping carts full of bananas- in fact these illustrations serve as a set of language therapy cards as well- they encourage discussion.
There isn’t too much else you need to know about this app – this review and video pretty much tells you everything. To find out more about Rainbow Sentences and all our speech therapy apps, tap on the icon below!

My StoryBuilder reading app was just reviewed by SpecialNeeds.com. SpecialNeed.com gathers information on all aspects of raising a special needs child and makes the information available to their readers in an easy to follow way. They have many kind things to say about StoryBuilder. The author writes:
Most children by age 2 or 3 are telling stories about their daily events, and by ages 3 to 5, children are re-telling familiar stories. Story Builder is an excellent aid for children who have difficulty creating or telling stories.
The app is recommended for ages 6 through 10 or above, and it is a family-friendly app with quality content for children, especially those with special needs. It is an exciting and valuable tool for parents and special needs educators.

I came across this very nice review of our Rainbow Sentences grammar app by Cindy Meester. Cindy is an SLP who spends quite a bit of time finding the best speech and language apps. About Rainbow Sentences, she writes:
This is an app that I use a lot. Kyle Tomson has created another great app that follow along in the same style as his previous ones. This app allows you not only to keep data on student progress but you can adjust the level of difficulty. I love that you can even adapt within each level by turning on or off color coding and word grouping. This makes each of the three complexity levels actually have 9 options.
Then comes the gold at the end of the rainbow…. recording the sentence! This has proven to be very successful with my students who are not very verbal. They might not be saying the sentence correctly but they are TALKING and saying WORDS. So if the sentence is The boy is throwing I may hear “boy throw.” It’s truly magically delicious!!!
Thanks Cindy and I’m glad your students are benefitting from it!! To find out more about Rainbow Sentences and all of our speech therapy apps, tap on the icon below!

QuestionBuilder has always been a favorite app of mine. It more than anything was the app the showed me just how much these apps can help kids. It has been a while since a new blog review of it has showed up. I was pleasantly surprised when this review for QuestionBuilder came across my desk yesterday. This author states that he doesn’t typically like to pay a lot for apps, but he feels that QuestionBuilder is worth it. He writes:
I love this type of app, and although I have a hard time bringing myself to pay $5.99, I think an app can be worth it. This app rates in that category and I recommend it for kids working on language skills.

Boy – I can hardly keep up with the reviews of Rainbow Sentences that are coming in. This is a real nice review where the author goes through the app pretty thoroughly. The author writes:
Rainbow Sentences by Mobile Education Tools is a beautifully made app. This app helps children learn to create grammatical sentences using color cues. Your child will learn parts of sentences and will also help build on receptive and expressive language skills along the way. This app helps teach nouns, verbs, and prepositions. Your child will also be able to record their sentences when finished to build on the language skills.
It’s so nice to see so many people having a positive experience with Rainbow Sentences!!

This is a nice review of our Rainbow Sentences grammar app by iHeartThisApp.com. From the sounds of it, the reviewer really put Rainbow Sentences through some intense use with multiple students. The author writes:
Rainbow Sentences was created by Mobile Education Store, the same developer who created Sentence Builder. The difference between these two apps is that Sentence Builder puts more emphasis on word selection while Rainbow Sentences focuses on the role the word plays and its part of speech in the sentence. The apps make a nice complement to each other and the different approaches provide a nice change of pace that helped keep my daughter’s interest.
Rainbow Sentences is a “download and play” app with very little learning curve or set-up required from the user. The color-coding is intuitive for students, and the recording option not only motivates my daughter, but it also gives her practice speaking.
The app worked flawlessly, with no technical bugs encountered during several intensive testing sessions.

Here is another wonderfull review of our ConversationBuilder social modeling app by a practicing speech language pathologist. She writes about her experience using the app with her clients, and the positive results she has seen. She writes:
It is a great way to lead a child through those tricky small talk situations and to practice ways to introduce themselves into a group activity. The photographs are bright, appealing, and sure to elicit questions and comments.
I highly recommend this app and hope that you find it as useful as I do.
I love hearing from SLP’s who use my speech therapy apps and have success with them.

I like this review of our ConversationBuilder social modeling app by iHeartThisApp.com. The author describes the app in a lot of detail and it is obvious that she has spent quite a bit of time playing with it. She writes:
Conversation Builder is one of those apps I appreciate more every time I use it. The ability to customize the app to the students’ needs makes it extraordinarily effective. Students gain experience in reading, enunciating, controlling the volume of their voice, and interacting in conversations. The ability to either respond to the iPad or to use the app in a group setting provides a valuable path for transitioning skills to everyday situations. The pictures are interesting and the variety of children featured in them helps keep students interested in the conversations.
By serving as a conversation simulator, the highly-customizable Conversation Builder is a one-of-a-kind app that is extraordinarily effective in helping students develop and practice conversation skills.
I love hearing about these real world success stories using my apps. For more information about ConversationBuilder and to purchase it on iTunes, tap on the icon below.

Here is a real nice review of our Rainbow Sentences grammar app on MomminItUp.com. Jenny Rapson writes:
Another fun thing I love about this app is that after you get so many correct responses, you get to unlock a puzzle piece on a picture – great motivation to get lots of answers right so you can figure out what the mystery picture is!
I highly recommend this app for speech, grammar help, or homeschool!
The video the author has posted of her daughter playing Rainbow Sentences is super cute too. To find out more about Rainbow Sentences and purchase it on iTunes, tap on the icon below!
