Review of ConversationBuilderTeen Social Skills App

This review of Mobile Education Store’s ConversationBuilderTeen social skills app was written by SLP blogger Jennifer Malloy.  Jennifer writes for the Carrie’s Speech Corner, which was voted one of the top speech pathology blogs of 2012.  It deserves the distinction, they do a great job with all of their blog reviews.  Jennifer has many positive things to say about ConversationBuilderTeen.  My favorite comment came at the very end of her blog.  She writes:

Every student I used this app with had a great time! I was having such a positive response from the students while utilizing this app that the other speech therapist I worked with asked what we were doing. I showed her the app and we collaborated groups for the rest of the day. It is VERY hard to find something this age group enjoys doing, targets a variety of speech and language goals and, most importantly, is cool!  I highly recommend this app!

It makes my day to hear that my apps are helping so many kids and best yet – that they like using them.  Stop by her blog to enter a raffle to win a free copy!

ConversationBuilderTeen is a virtual conversation simulator designed for teenaged kids. It helps kids practice how to have conversations with their peers and how to respond to common situations that teens run into. Students record their half of the conversation and get to listen to the other half. Once a conversation is finished, we interlace the student recordings with the pre-recorded peer responses to form a complete conversation. All the wrong answers and re recordings are stripped away and then they get to hear themselves have a conversation with a peer as it is supposed to sound. Not only is it incredibly motivating for students to hear themselves, but because we break down the flow of conversation into a visual format, it teaches them conversation in a way that they can rapidly master. With over 300 conversations broken into 8 themes, we cover all the normal teen obsessions like sports, summer, and entertainment, as well as all the unpleasant things such as bullying, peer pressure and relationships.

ConversationBuilderTeen is the latest edition to Mobile Education Store’s “Builder Series” of education apps. MES has won over 20 app awards and multiple developer of the year awards. To find out more about ConversationBuilderTeen and our other speech therapy apps, tap on the icon below!
