Seven Apps That Teach Literacy Skills

Mobile Education Store is excited to announce that our Crack the Books series of interactive science books was recently named as one of the best apps for teaching literacy skills in THE JOURNAL, the pre-eminant publications on education technology.  The author profiles seven apps in the February edition of The Journal, and names Crack The Books as one of the best on iTunes for teaching literacy skills to children with special needs.

It’s exciting to see so many educators and education experts think so highly of our digital books.  They understand what we already do –  its not enough to just take a print book and move it to a digital medium, in order for digital books to really improve education, they must take full advantage of everything that tablet computers offer.  Crack the Books is the first book series to do this.

Our Crack the Books™ series of digital books currently consists of 3 books, Pines to Vines, Seashores to Sea Floors and Blades.  These revolutionary books are designed to improve reading comprehension in all students, from those with special needs to those with academic gifts. They are the first that can be adjusted for reading level without sacrificing curriculum content. Students can experience all the content presented to their classmates, while reading at a level that is appropriate to their ability.  Targeting 3rd – 6th grade science and social studies concepts, our iBooks allow for reading level adjustment from 1st to 8th grade within the same book, making it possible for all students in a classroom to access the same curriculum content regardless of their reading ability.

Crack the Books is part of Mobile Education Store’s award winning suite of educational apps.  MES has won over 50 app awards and has been named educational developer of the year in both 2011 and 2012.
