We are excited to share another strong review of  our Crack The Books series of interactive science book with adjustable reading levels.  Autism Plugged In reviews all three of our currently released books, Pines to Vines – The Forest Biome, Seashores to Sea Floors – The Ocean Biome and Blades – The Grassland Biome.  Autism Plugged In is a neat review site that not only reviews the best apps for special needs kids, but all sorts of toys and games as well.  It is well worth your time to check out.

The author does a nice job of explaining the highlights of these books, including the adjustable reading levels and other interactive features.

Pines to Vines, developed in collaboration with Oregon State University’s Department of Forestry, covers a variety of topics, including forest layers, range and climate of forest biomes, plant and animal wildlife, adaptations, forest benefits, and forest threats.

Blades, developed in collaboration with the Department of Biology at Doane University, covers a variety of topics, including the structure of grass, plant and animal wildlife, adaptations, benefits of grasslands, and grassland threats.  Students will learn about all major grassland ecosystems including tropical savannas, steppes, prairies, pampas, and velds.

Seashores to Sea Floors, developed in collaboration with the University of Alaska’s Department of Oceanography, covers a variety of topics, including ocean layers, plant and animal wildlife, adaptations, benefits of oceans, and ocean threats.  Students will learn about all major ocean ecosystems including open seas, polar oceans, the deep sea, the sea floor, seamounts, hydrothermal vents, cold seeps, rocky intertidal zones, beaches, kelp forests, estuaries and coral reefs.

These three titles are part of our Crack the Books™ series of digital books.  These revolutionary books are designed to improve reading comprehension in all students, from those with special needs to those with academic gifts. They are the first that can be adjusted for reading level without sacrificing curriculum content. Students can experience all the content presented to their classmates, while reading at a level that is appropriate to their ability.  Targeting 3rd – 6th grade science and social studies concepts, our iBooks allow for reading level adjustment from 1st to 8th grade within the same book, making it possible for all students in a classroom to access the same curriculum content regardless of their reading ability.

Crack the Books is part of Mobile Education Store’s award winning suite of educational apps.  MES has won over 50 app awards and has been named educational developer of the year in both 2011 and 2012.
