Speech Journal is designed to allow parents and speech pathologists the ability to create customized versions of any targeted speech-language activity. Uses for Speech Journal include: picture sequencing, multi-step picture schedules, multi-step directions, articulation, expressive language exercises, building narratives, individualized social stories, practice conversations. Speech Journal can also be used as a personal diary and as a way to create family vacation photo slideshows.Any image from your photo album can be imported into Speech Journal.

In addition, iPad2 users can use the on-board camera to create new images within the application. Once you have selected an image, you can create a voice recording to go with the image. Once you have completed a recording, you can play, erase, or save the image/recording pair. You may also add more recordings and images to the recording, creating a slideshow. Previously saved recordings may be re-opened and have as many recordings and images added to them as you would like.

Speech Journal can also function as a basic voice output augmentative communication device for children with limited verbal ability.

Im having trouble transferring my finish journal off of the iPad. When I email it to myself, I get every picture in a different file, and all the audio is compressed to one file.

The only way I can put them back together is through powerpoint, but the format of the audio is incompatible with powerpoint.

Do I really need to create a powerpoint, download audio conversion software, convert my audio to mp3, then time it right on the powerpoint to have a presentation off the iPad?

There’s gotta be an easier way. Is there an update that will send the file as one (pictures and audio together)?

Please email me as I would love to keep using your app!

Hi ! I participate in a blog (lasauterelletactile)that lists apps for special needs children (french speakers). I emailed you a while back through your website about whether your apps could be used by french speakers as the display in the store is “english only”. I have downloaded Speech Journal that I find very useful regardless the users’ native language, I would like to know if your other apps are similar or can be customized? Thanks!

Marie,

ConversationBuilder has a group setting that allows you to import your own images and create your own conversations. That is my only other one though, all my others are in english and do not have the level of customization as Speech Journal. Hope this helps! Kyle

I love using the Speech Journal app with the children I work with. I am having one problem, though. Sometimes when I select pictures, they come into the program oriented sideways. This happens whether I am using the iPad camera or importing from my photo library. Is there a way for me to rotate the pictures once I have imported them into Speech Journal?

Thank you!

HI,
I love Speech Journal as a way to send home info to parents about what students are doing at school. If you were thinking about any updates, it would be great to have a picture next to the title so students could better recognize the recordings. Also, it would be very helpful for the Help, Record and Archive buttons to be bigger.

Thanks!
Diane
